More Awards at Inaugural Welsh Vineyard Association Competition

Ancre Hill Estates has won a hatful of medals at the Inaugural Welsh Vineyards Association Competiton….

The 2013 Competition was held at the wonderful Llanerch Vineyard in the Vale of Glamorgan. The three judges consisted of; Chair, Roger Jones, Chef Proprietor of the Michelin starred Harrow at Little Bedwyn and senior Decanter Judge,  Bill Gunn MW, former UK MD of Pol Roger and Julie Bell, Manager of the critically acclaimed Felin Fach Griffin, near Brecon.

In all, 35 wines in 3 categories were judged and 21 medals awarded. This was a very pleasing result for the Welsh wine industry as the wines were judged according to Decanter standards.

Ancre Hill Estates won; 3 Bronze medals, 3 Silvers and the only Gold medal awarded, for the 2009 Sparkling Rosé.

The event was a great success for the recently formed Welsh Vineyard Association (WVA) and it is hoped that it will become a prestigious International event in the coming years.
